Match this to your motor’s full load current. Second, the horsepower rating. Motors draw extra current during startup. The contactor needs to handle that surge. Third, the coil voltage. Common options include 24V, 120V, 208V, and 240V AC. Pick what matches your control circuit.

Also check the enclosure type. An open AC magnetic contactor works fine inside a control panel. But if you mount it on a wall or near dust, get an enclosed version. NEMA 1 enclosures keep out fingers and large debris. NEMA 3R or 4 adds weather resistance for outdoor use.


Simple Wiring, Clear Labels

Wiring an AC magnetic contactor doesn’t require a specialist. Most units label the terminals clearly. L1, L2, L3 for line side power. T1, T2, T3 for load side to your motor or lights. A1 and A2 connect to your control voltage for the coil. Auxiliary contacts use numbers like 13-14 for normally open or 21-22 for normally closed.

Mount the contactor on a DIN rail or directly with screws. Then connect your wires following the diagram printed on the device. Double-check each connection. Apply control power. You should hear a solid click as the contactor pulls in. That sound tells you everything works.
